Saving our greatest resource - fresh water

As I read the news about the unfolding disaster at Porter Ranch, the aging pipes that were not updated, the neglect and lack of appropriate secondary containment,  the lack of a regulatory framework to enable regulators to intervene, and we revisit the awareness that there is no meaningful containment  ability once such a leak has occurred....I also recall that we've all been aware for some time that we have our very own high risk aging oil pipelines (now 61+ years old, projected at building to have a 50 year lifetime)  under the gem of the great lakes.....managed by the company who already brought us the largest inland oil spill ever.

I can't help but think that we're meant to glean from this Flint water crisis (& our Governor being on the ropes with the national spotlite on it),  that the time for action on protecting all of our fresh  water  is now.  Isn't it time for action that protects the truly greatest world resource entrusted to this state?  :
